Platinum Wedding Rings - History and Buying
Guide
By Harry Bernstein
There is not much point in choosing your
partners wedding ring unless it is able to complement the
engagement ring she has. Highly decorated platinum wedding
rings will possibly be more noticeable on the finger than the
engagement ring and that would never do! The purpose of the
wedding ring remains unchanged as a way for two people to
express their love and devotion for each other. Many customs
actually view the giving of the ring as the last in a number of
gifts given to each partner.
Eternity rings are becoming the more
fashionable alternative to this particular custom but the
meaning is still the same. More and more couples are now having
them engraved with a personal message that is special to them
and also makes them more unique. Often plain bands just don't
suit the personality of the owners so if this is the case why
not have both you and your partner's platinum wedding rings
given a unique style by having the edges engraved. Just
remember, they are for you both so whatever you choose will be
right.
You must never forget how important this is
and unlike any another piece of jewelry as it will not often
leave your finger. Irrespective of the design you finally
decide on, do not accept anything but the highest quality. It
is possible to buy wedding rings inexpensively but this should
not be done as it undermines the significance they should hold
and you can be sure they will not stand the test of time. If
you are serious about platinum wedding rings you will not find
them inexpensive anyway so it is important that people see them
fitting well if they are to be shown at their best.
The best way to ensure the rings will fit is to have them
professionally measure when you are at the jewelers. By doing
this simple thing you can ensure that the situation where the
wedding ring either doesn't fit or so loose it starts to slip
off, doesn't happen. Don't rush the jeweler if you want a good
job; give him plenty of time before the big day to get the work
done. As there may be other work to be carried out on your
platinum wedding rings in addition to size adjustments, give
the jeweler at least two months to get the work done.
Having an extensive choice of styles and
designs is good but it can take quite some time to choose which
suits you and your partner the best. Your platinum wedding
rings should stand the test of time so they should not be
designs which are the height of current fashion if you want
them to stay looking good. You should love the rings you buy
and if you have chosen well, this will still be the same years
in the future.
